About me

Hey, I’m Josh!

I was born and raised in Solihull, (West Midlands) think; Richard Hammond (Top Gear), Dorian Yates (Six time Mr Olympia) & Jaguar/Land Rover.

Growing up, I was always creative, imaginative and adventurous. So of course, my journey into adulthood, led me down a completely different direction. It began with a career in the construction industry as a Quantity Surveyor and although I worked hard to get there, several years passed by and it never felt right for me. My true calling wasn’t going to be found, sitting behind a desk all day. So in 2019, I made the decision to pursue my childhood dream and become a firefighter!

Throughout the course of my life, I also had this unexplainable level of admiration and respect for photography & film. However, I didn’t take this too seriously, nor did I try and seize any opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of it all. It wasn’t until 2018, that my adventurous plans to visit the exclusion zone of Chernobyl, Ukraine, meant that I needed to invest in my first camera! (of course I was in auto mode the whole time, but we all have to start somewhere right!?)

Fast forward a number of years and the initial interest I had in photography, had transformed into a passion! I had made it my mission to learn as much as I could about the camera; experimenting with the settings, lenses, lighting, composition, filters, techniques and its limitations. I would try and find any excuse to go out and capture whatever I could, whenever I could.

Passion is personality, so it’s only natural that I bring my two passions together!

In the heat of a fire, every detail matters. One missed ember and a re-ignition is almost certain. Just like in firefighting, capturing a perfect photograph demands a similar level of precision. All Extinguished reflects that commitment. It’s not just about capturing the moments, It’s about ensuring all the elements - lighting, composition, focus - is meticulously controlled, leaving no detail ‘extinguished’ and delivering a flawless final image.
